Instructions for applying for The Vennard Gilmore Scholarship -- for 2012


The Scholarships
  Two scholarships will be awarded for calendar year 2012. Each scholarship will be in the amount of $500.


Eligibility Requirements
  An eligible applicant for this scholarship --
  is currently attending or has graduated from an accredited high school.
  is intending to attend college during 2012 as a full time student (minimum of 12 credit hours).
  is a relative of a Vennard alumnus (an alumnus is anyone who has attended or taught at one of the Vennard colleges).


Submission Instructions
  1. Click HERE to view the Application Form. Print a copy of the Application Form, and complete all information on the form.
  2. Compose a testimony essay. We would like to know something about you in your own words. Print or type an essay no longer than one page, telling us about your experience as a Christian, your plans or ideas for the future, ways you can see God using your life and talents.
  3.  Acquire a letter of recommendation from a person outside your family, such as your pastor, teachers, mentors, employers. We would like this letter to inform us about your commitment to your Christian beliefs, your characteristics and strengths, and your personality. We want to know why the person writing your letter believes you are a good candidate for the scholarship. The recommendation letter should be not longer than 2 pages.
  4. Submit the application --
Mail the 2-page form, the testimony essay, and the letter of recommendation to the VCAA Secretary, and address it as follows:

  5. The application must be postmarked no later than March 15, 2012.


Scholarship Award Announcement
  Scholarship announcements will be mailed to all applicants by May 1, 2012.
  If a recipient is a college student, the award can be applied to either the current (Spring 2012) semester, or to the upcoming (Fall 2012) semester. If a recipient is a graduating high school student, the award will automatically be applied to the fall 2012 semester.
  The Vennard College Alumni Associaion will contact the college listed by each recipient to make funding arrangements. When we have received confirmation that the student has enrolled for classes, the payment will be made to the college on behalf of the recipient.
